PCB Announces Major Upgrades to National Cricket Academy

In a significant move to further enhance Pakistan’s cricket infrastructure, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has revealed plans to redesign the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and expand its training facilities as part of a greater scheme. According to Geo News, Naqvi emphasized the PCB’s commitment to modernizing cricket facilities and ensuring top-tier preparations for future international events.

The National Cricket Academy, located in Lahore, has been the backbone of Pakistan’s cricket development for years. However, with the evolving demands of modern cricket, the PCB has decided to redesign and expand the training ground to provide better resources for the players. The expansion aims to bring the academy up to international standards after years of stagnation, ensuring that Pakistan’s emerging and professional cricketers receive the best possible training environment.

In addition to the National Cricket Academy revamp, PCB is also planning a five-star hotel near Gaddafi Stadium, which is expected to be completed within the next year. This development is particularly significant, as it will provide top-tier accommodation for international teams and officials, eliminating the need for long commutes from hotels across the city. The close proximity of the hotel and the playing arena will also eliminate the traffic headache for the general public during cricketing fixtures.

The presence of a luxury hotel right next to the stadium will also enhance security, convenience, and the overall match-day experience, making Lahore an even more attractive venue for hosting major international matches.

These upgrades come as part of Pakistan’s broader push to improve cricketing infrastructure that started ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The PCB has already carried out extensive renovation work across all major stadiums, ensuring that facilities meet international standards for hosting a global event. Stadiums in Lahore and Karachi have all undergone modernisation efforts, including improved floodlights, seating, and hospitality areas. These renovations, coupled with the NCA expansion and new hotel construction, underline Pakistan’s commitment to providing world-class venues for international cricket.

Under Mohsin Naqvi’s leadership, the PCB is focusing on modernizing cricket facilities nationwide. With Gaddafi Stadium being a central venue for international matches, these infrastructural developments will further solidify its position as a world-class cricketing destination.
