The Sindh government plans to digitize the vehicle fitness certification process to eliminate corruption and improve road safety. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Syed Asif Hyder Shah, where officials discussed measures to address traffic issues and reduce accidents across the province.
The current manual vehicle fitness certification system has been criticized for its lack of transparency and the involvement of middlemen, often referred to as the “agent mafia.” These intermediaries have been accused of manipulating the process, allowing unfit vehicles to pass certification. This has contributed to unsafe road conditions and a rise in accidents.
The Chief Secretary directed the transport department to implement a fully digital certification system within the next three months. The new system will ensure that vehicle fitness data is recorded and verified in real-time, removing human interference and reducing the chances of malpractice. The government aims to make the certification system more transparent and accountable.
“Unfit vehicles are a major cause of road accidents, and their regulation must be handled with efficiency and accountability,” said the Chief Secretary. The digitization of the process is expected to ensure that only vehicles meeting strict safety standards are allowed on the roads, reducing the risk of accidents caused by poorly maintained vehicles.

Look who’s talking now?
Plan basically is faulty with no insight to who will decalre vehicle fit.. Either adapt western system of MOT like in UK with verified vendors that conduct mandatory fitness test of vehicles with report and authprused to issue fitness as a result.. Under current system, no one checks vehicle, just money and fitness
As we know that America, Canada UK and Europe Dubai all countries has strict traffic regulations and before driving a vehicle you need to pass exam then you can get license but here in Pakistan unfortunately don’t. Even they don’t maintain speed limit
I would like to suggest to government plz maintain sign boards , lane change and school zone speed limit sign boards and educate them
