In Karachi, a 16-year-old student, Mahrukh, achieved a significant milestone by developing Pakistan’s first calculator in the Sindhi language using artificial intelligence (AI). She completed this project in three days, aiming to benefit Sindhi-speaking businesspersons greatly.
Mahrukh highlights that a large population in Sindh hasn’t had access to higher education and primarily understands and speaks Sindhi. This makes it challenging for them to utilize technology. Hence, she used AI to design a calculator that operates in Sindhi, aiming to simplify financial calculations for Sindhi-speaking business individuals.

She also mentioned that the calculator’s development involved assistance from ChatGPT and other modern technologies. If the government shows interest in this project, the calculator could be used extensively for commercial purposes.
Mahrukh studies at Rehman Allahwala School in Karachi, where traditional textbooks and pencils are replaced with smart devices and artificial intelligence for education. Here, students not only learn modern technology but also receive opportunities for earning during their education.
Mahrukh believes in the importance of skills over degrees in today’s era. She encourages youth to enhance their abilities so they can become financially independent quickly. She earns through her YouTube channel where she shares her skills.
Apart from her prowess in technology, Mahrukh is also recognized by the Rashid Culture and Science Center, desires to become a public speaker, and has won awards in various speaking competitions.
Her achievement serves as an example for Pakistani youth that with confidence in their abilities and utilization of modern technology, they can achieve significant accomplishments at a young age. Her success proves that given opportunities, Pakistani youth can make a mark on the global stage.
