Govt Merges Narcotics Division With Ministry of Interior

The federal government has officially merged the Narcotics Control Division into the Interior Division, renaming the Ministry of Interior as the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control, according to a notification issued on February 11, 2025.

The move, formalized under S.R.O 83(I)/2025, also places the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) under the Interior Division as an attached department.

Necessary amendments have been incorporated into the Rules of Business, 1973. The notification directs that all official correspondence should now refer to the revised ministry name, and matters related to the former Narcotics Control Division should be addressed under the new title.
