Punjab to Recruit Nearly 6,000 Police Constables

The Punjab Cabinet has approved hiring 5,960 police constables to improve public services in the province. This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

The cabinet also approved a special Ramadan relief package worth Rs. 30 billion under the ‘Nigehban Ramadan’ program, expected to support 30 million people.

The Chief Minister also announced plans to introduce an ATM card next year, allowing beneficiaries to receive Rs. 10,000 without waiting in long lines.

The meeting also sanctioned free bus travel for special persons and senior citizens. A proposal for a student travel card was discussed, and the Chief Minister requested a plan for launching a tram service.

The government allocated Rs. 580 million for advanced cancer treatment equipment and approved measures to enhance Special Education Centers.

Additional approvals included hiring Child Protection and Welfare Bureau staff, recruiting 500 personnel for Murree’s traffic management, and replacing 353 Rescue 1122 vehicles. The Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965 was also amended to introduce the Excel Road Management System.
