The holy month of Ramadan is expected to commence on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in most Muslim countries, according to the UAE International Astronomical Centre (IAC).
The IAC confirmed that the crescent moon marking the beginning of Ramadan will be observed on Friday, February 28, 2025.
According to Mohammed Shawkat Odeh, Director of the Centre, the crescent may be visible through telescopes in some parts of the Islamic world on that day.
Since the conjunction is set to occur before sunset and the moon will remain visible after sunset across all Islamic regions, it is likely that most countries will declare March 1 as the official start of Ramadan.
