The Punjab government has set the eligibility criteria for its laptop distribution scheme, aiming to provide digital resources to students across the province. The decision was finalized during a high-level review meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat.
The meeting, attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education Ajmal Chandio and Higher Education Department (HED) Secretary Dr. Farrukh Naveed, focused on the rules, procedures, and eligibility requirements for the initiative.
Officials were instructed to expedite the process and finalize dates for the web portal launch, application review, and merit list announcement.
Under the scheme, laptops will initially be distributed to students in their first and second semesters. The eligibility criteria require BS students to have a minimum of 65 percent marks in their intermediate exams, while medical students must have at least 80 percent.
The minister also directed the immediate completion of the online application portal and emphasized the final preparations for the second phase of the Honhaar Scholarship Programme.
The initiative is part of the Punjab government’s efforts to promote digital learning and support students in higher education.
