The Sindh government has imposed a ban on the unnecessary use of social media in all public institutions, prohibiting government officers and employees from recording videos during working hours.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah issued the directive, and a formal notification was released to enforce the new policy. According to the notification, any government employee found sharing official duties or activities on social media will face strict disciplinary action. The Chief Minister has instructed the Chief Secretary and the Inspector General of Sindh Police to ensure full compliance with the policy.
The notification emphasizes that employees frequently post photos and videos from government offices, vehicles, and in official uniforms — a practice that will now lead to departmental action if continued.
Furthermore, officers and staff are barred from using personal social media accounts to disclose official matters. Posting images of government properties or uniforms online has been declared a violation of the official code of conduct.
