Affordable Realme P3 Series With Huge Batteries Unveiled

Realme has officially introduced the P3 series in India, comprising the Realme P3 Pro and Realme P3x. These smartphones come with IP68/IP69 ratings, ensuring protection against dust and high-pressure water jets. Additionally, both models feature large 6,000 mAh batteries, which should provide extended usage without frequent charging.

While both devices share some similarities, they also have notable differences in display technology, processing power, and charging speeds. Here’s a detailed look at the design, specifications, camera setup, and battery life of the Realme P3 series.

Design and Display

The Realme P3 Pro features a 6.83-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen also supports a high local peak brightness of 1,500 nits, making it suitable for bright environments. The quad-curved edges contribute to the device’s slim profile, though they might impact durability. The optical fingerprint scanner is embedded within the display.

The Realme P3x, on the other hand, comes with a 6.72-inch IPS LCD panel with the same FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate but has a lower peak brightness of 950 nits. Unlike the P3 Pro, the P3x has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button.

Both phones feature IP68/IP69 ratings, meaning they are resistant to dust and high-pressure water jets, though this does not imply full waterproofing. The devices are available in different colors: the P3 Pro in Nebula Glow, Galaxy Purple, and Saturn Brown, while the P3x comes in Lunar Silver, Midnight Blue, and Stellar Pink.

Internals and Software

The Realme P3 Pro runs on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, built on a 4nm process. It features an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.95GHz, paired with an Adreno 710 GPU for enhanced graphics performance. The device comes with 8GB or 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, with no microSD expansion.

The Realme P3x is the first phone to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset, which includes an octa-core CPU (2x Cortex-A76 + 6x Cortex-A55) and a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. It is available in 6GB or 8GB RAM variants with 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which is slower than the P3 Pro’s UFS 3.1.

Both phones run on Realme UI 6.0 based on Android 15, offering the latest system updates and security patches. Realme UI 6.0 brings performance optimizations and new customization options. However, as with previous Realme devices, long-term software update policies remain unclear.

Camera

The Realme P3 Pro comes with a dual-camera setup, featuring a 50MP Sony IMX896 primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a 2MP depth sensor. The Sony IMX896 sensor will improve low-light performance and dynamic range, but its lack of an ultra-wide or telephoto lens reduces its versatility. The front camera is 16MP, placed inside a hole-punch cutout at the top center of the display.

The Realme P3x also has a 50MP main camera but uses the OmniVision OV50D sensor, which lacks OIS. The secondary 2MP depth sensor is included for portrait mode. The front camera is also 16MP, similar to the P3 Pro. Both devices support 4K video recording at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps, but neither model includes 4K 60fps recording, a feature usually found in higher-end smartphones.

Battery and Pricing

A major highlight of the Realme P3 series is its 6,000mAh battery, which should provide extended usage on a single charge. The Realme P3x supports 45W wired charging, while the P3 Pro offers 80W wired charging with bypass charging support, enabling users to operate the device while charging without overheating the battery.

Pricing for the Realme P3 Pro starts at INR 23,999 ($276) for the 8/128GB model, while the 12/256GB variant costs INR 26,999 ($310). The Realme P3x is priced at INR 13,999 ($161) for the 6/128GB model and INR 14,999 ($172) for the 8GB RAM variant. Both smartphones will be available for purchase starting February 28 through Realme and its retail partners.
