Here is The Traffic Plan for Champions Trophy Matches in Rawalpindi

With the 2025 Champions Trophy action set to reach Rawalpindi soon, city authorities have put in place a detailed traffic management plan to ensure smooth vehicle movement and minimize disruptions for commuters and cricket fans alike. The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is getting ready to host matches from February 24 to 27, with New Zealand and Bangladesh kicking off the festivities.

To handle the expected congestion, over 367 traffic officers and personnel will be deployed across key routes. Special arrangements have been made to maintain the flow of traffic during team movements, with designated alternative routes in place to redirect vehicles.

Motorists will be kept informed through the traffic police’s social media channels and FM radio updates. To accommodate matchgoers, authorities have also designated five parking areas near the stadium. A shuttle service, managed by the district administration, will transport spectators between these parking locations and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, ensuring ease of access.

Several road closures and diversions will be in effect during match days:

  • Murree Road Closure: The stretch from Faizabad to Double Road turn will be closed during the arrival and departure of cricket teams.
  • Stadium Road: Will be completely shut down from both directions between 9th Avenue Chowk and Double Road turn.
  • Traffic from Islamabad: Vehicles coming via 9th Avenue can enter Rawalpindi through Faizabad Expressway and IJP Road via Pandora Chungi, Katarian, and Pirwadhai Mor.
  • Traffic from Rawalpindi to Islamabad: Will be rerouted via Murree Road from Faizabad.
  • Diversions: Traffic from Ghausia Chowk will be redirected towards Farooq Azam Road, while vehicles from Islamabad will be diverted from Faizabad to the Expressway.

Chief Traffic Officer Benish Fatima stressed the importance of public cooperation in following the traffic management plan for the Champions Trophy to ensure both security and an uninterrupted traffic flow during match days. She also assured citizens that real-time updates on road closures and diversions would be provided via official traffic police platforms.

With thousands expected to attend the matches, city officials are urging commuters to plan their routes in advance and stay updated through official channels to avoid inconvenience.
