KP Ends Weekly ‘Meat-Free’ Days Temporarily

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provincial government has lifted the weekly “meat-free” days for the holy month of Ramazan.

According to a notification issued by the KP Food Department, the weekly ban on meat sales has been revoked, allowing meat to be available throughout the week. The restriction on meat sales and animal slaughter during Ramazan has been officially removed.

In Pakistan, the commercial sale and slaughter of animals have traditionally been prohibited on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to protect livestock populations and maintain production balance, though chicken meat remained available on those days. However, the provincial government has now decided to lift this restriction during Ramadan.
