Sindh to Distribute 200,000 Solar Panels Till July 2025

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah distributed solar home systems to residents of Karachi during a ceremony on Wednesday, highlighting the initiative as a crucial step in collaboration with the World Bank.

He stated that 200,000 low-income households would receive solar home systems, with the distribution expected to be completed by July 2025. “Our target is to distribute 400 solar kits per week in each district,” he added. Emphasizing the importance of green energy in addressing climate change, CM Shah noted that the solar plants would help provide 300 free units of electricity.

He also mentioned that during the president’s recent visit to China, several agreements for wind and solar hybrid projects were signed with Chinese companies. Additionally, 656 schools and 24 libraries are being shifted to solar power, and various government buildings across Sindh will also be solarized.

The program aims to reduce electricity costs for low-income households and is part of the Sindh Solar Energy Project. Each solar system includes a solar panel, a fan, three bulbs, a battery backup, and a mobile charger.
