Death Stranding 2: On the Beach officially launches on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5. At SXSW 2025, Kojima Productions dropped a 10-minute trailer, offering the most detailed look yet at the highly anticipated sequel to 2019’s Death Stranding.
New Trailer for Death Stranding 2
The new trailer explores the story and world of Death Stranding 2, which is set 11 months after the formation of the United Cities of America. It revisits familiar characters and introduces new faces and environments, teasing a deeper, more ambitious experience.
Pre-orders open on March 17, with fans who opt for the Digital Deluxe or Collector’s Edition gaining early access on June 24, two days ahead of the official launch. The pre-order bonus content includes extra in-game items such as cosmetics, weapons, and other goodies, while the Collector’s Edition will get you a box full of Death Stranding merchandise, such as a Magellan Man statue, art cards, a Dollman figurine, and more.
Returning Cast and Story Expansion
During the SXSW panel, Hideo Kojima took the stage alongside stars Norman Reedus (Sam), Troy Baker (Higgs), and Léa Seydoux (Fragile) to discuss the new chapter: Death Stranding 2. The trailer shows Sam returning as a central figure, and while plot details remain mysterious, the game appears to expand significantly on the original’s themes of connection, isolation, and rebuilding society.
A Long-Awaited Sequel
Death Stranding 2 was first revealed in 2022, and fans got their first major glimpse during last year’s PlayStation State of Play with a 9-minute trailer. Now, after years of speculation and teasers, players will finally get to experience the next evolution of Kojima’s surreal, genre-defying world this summer- if the game does not go through any delays, that is.
Keep your eye out for the June 2025 launch date for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
