Sindh Announces Two Holidays on Occasion of Holi

The Sindh government has declared a two-day holiday for Hindu employees on the occasion of Holi, allowing them to celebrate the festival without work-related obligations. According to an official notification, the holidays will be observed on Thursday and Friday, providing ample time for festivities.

Holi, known as the festival of colors, is widely celebrated by the Hindu community across Sindh and other parts of Pakistan. The announcement reflects the provincial government’s commitment to recognizing and respecting the cultural and religious diversity of the region.

The holiday aims to ensure that Hindu employees can fully participate in the celebrations, which include traditional rituals, gatherings, and the iconic throwing of colored powders.

Meanwhile, in neighboring India, authorities have issued strict advisories for Holi celebrations, particularly as the festival coincides with the holy month of Ramadan. The Mumbai Police have implemented precautionary measures to maintain public order and religious harmony, with the advisory in effect until March 18, 2025.

The overlap of Holi and Ramadan has prompted officials to emphasize mutual respect and peaceful coexistence during the celebrations.

In Pakistan, discussions are also underway regarding the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has predicted that Ramadan will last 29 days this year, with Eid-ul-Fitr expected to fall on Monday, March 31, 2025.

If the moon sighting confirms this prediction, the Eid holidays are likely to begin on March 31. However, the government’s final announcement is still awaited.
