Here’s How Many Eid-ul-Fitr Holidays Pakistanis Are Likely to Enjoy

Pakistanis could enjoy a nine-day holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, as the expected moon sighting date suggests an extended break from March 29 to April 6.

According to the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council, the Shawwal moon is likely to be visible on March 30, making March 31 the expected date for Eid-ul-Fitr. Experts say the moon will be over 26 hours old, making it visible across most parts of Pakistan.

Possible Holiday Schedule

Public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr typically last for three days. If the government announces official holidays from March 29 (Saturday) to April 2 (Wednesday), and additional leave is granted on April 3 and 4 (Thursday and Friday), it could result in a nine-day holiday when combined with the weekends.

No Official Announcement Yet

The official holiday schedule will depend on the government’s approval and the announcement of the final moon sighting. However, many Pakistanis are hopeful for an extended holiday, which would allow them to travel and celebrate Eid with their families.

  • Makes absolutely zero sense as to why Government would give a holiday on Thursday and Friday.

    • Haha exactly.

They may lean towards giving Thursday off, which is highly unlikely, as they’d never feel sympathetic at all. But the best bet is still Monday to Wednesday.

  • such highly intelligent posts make me wonder why there arent any journalism awards handed out to propak
