Google Pixel 9’s budget sibling is not official yet, but some YouTubers have already gotten their hands on it and are posting reviews. These videos show an in-depth look at the Google Pixel 9a which matches the endless leaks we have been seeing for a long time.
The video reviews have been posted by The Mobile Central and Sahil Karoul, both of which show legitimate phone units and the changes introduced by Google over the last generation.
The Pixel 9a departs from Google’s signature camera bar we have been seeing for the past few generations. It features instead a near-flush camera arrangement against its plastic back. The device’s aluminum frame and front panel echo the design language of the vanilla Pixel 9, albeit with a 6.3-inch 1080p display of reduced resolution and what appears to be slightly enlarged bezels.
Just like its predecessor, the Pixel 9a brings easier access to the company’s proprietary camera and AI capabilities, all driven by Google’s custom Tensor chips. The video reviews have confirmed that the Pixel 9a is equipped with the Tensor G4 processor and features a dual rear camera setup: a 48MP wide lens and a 13MP ultrawide lens.
Photographic performance appears to closely match that of the Pixel 9, although nighttime video recording reportedly has some limitations. Furthermore, the Pixel 9a is anticipated to be available in a range of color finishes, including “Iris” (light purple), “Obsidian” (black), “Peony” (hot pink), and “Porcelain” (white).
The Pixel 9a is rumored to become official on March 19, but it seems a little early considering the Pixel 8a came out a little later in May last year.
