The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior has announced that women wearing a niqab or burqa while driving will face fines ranging between 30 and 50 Kuwaiti dinars under the country’s revised traffic regulations.
The ministry clarified that the rule aims to enhance road safety, as face coverings can obstruct vision and reduce attentiveness, increasing the risk of accidents.

Authorities also highlighted security concerns, stating that drivers wearing niqabs are difficult to identify through surveillance cameras, making law enforcement and traffic monitoring more challenging.
The ministry further emphasized that Kuwait has prohibited wearing the niqab while driving since 1984, but the recent statement was issued in response to social media discussions questioning whether the practice constitutes a traffic violation.

This country Govt is Not Governed by Muslims

By this logic surgeons should be banned from wearing face masks while doing surgery as it reduces attentiveness and can risk patient safety
Sorry bro, but this is a stupid comparison to what the article is telling you. Surgeons don’t ride around in fast vehicles and pose no potential threat to the general public law. Hope this helps clear your mind.
I guess they have forgotten Pandemic time ( COVID-19) . everyone one was wearing Masks and covered more than normal routine…. but was able to drive and proceed with all routine tasks……. ???
The author of this article is either misinformed or deliberately spreading falsehoods to defame Islam and the wearing of the niqab. Instead of verifying facts, they have resorted to sensationalism.
As Pakistanis, we must avoid jumping to conclusions and should always seek the truth before reacting. Since I live here, I can confidently say that for accurate news, one should refer to reputable sources such as Arab Times or Kuwait Times. The reality of the situation is quite different from what this author claims. The Kuwaiti government has officially clarified that there is no fine for women wearing the niqab. In the 1980s, identification posed challenges, but with modern technology and the presence of female officers, this is no longer an issue.
It is disgraceful for a journalist to spread misinformation instead of upholding journalistic integrity. Readers deserve the truth, not baseless propaganda.
Shame on you kawaitis. This is expected from your nation.
The impact of this new regulation will be that chances of Niqabi women being fined are 100% while the chances of authorities catching drunk drivers will never be 100%.
And these are Islamic gulf countries who proudly wear Arab attires as cultural symbols. Why complain about Islamophobia in Europe then?
A sensible decision by Kuwaiti government. Dacoits and criminal elements can make use of hijab while driving and commit crimes and they will not be recognized. Only a misguided Muslim and fundamentalist will oppose this decision.
On the other hand, here in Pakistan, the government might introduce shuttlecock burqas even for men. This is the difference between sensibility and ‘jahalat’.
