The Pakistan Aviation Authority (PAA) has announced plans to commence international flights from Begum Nusrat Bhutto Sukkur Airport, as reported by 24NewsHDTV Channel.
PAA’s Planning and Development Director, Abbas Sheikh, along with other officials, visited the Sukkur Chamber of Commerce and Industry today to discuss the airport’s expansion and future developments.
During the meeting, committee convener Muhammad Mohsin Farooq confirmed the approval of two weekly flights from Sukkur to Jeddah, set to begin in July this year. He credited this achievement to the efforts of Sukkur Chamber of Commerce President Khalid Kakezai and former president Bilal Waqar Khan.
Officials also deliberated on the expansion of Sukkur Airport and directed that estimates be gathered on products exported from Sukkur and its surrounding areas. This data will be used to formulate a comprehensive development plan for both passenger and cargo flights.
Notably, in 2019, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) launched direct international flights from Sialkot International Airport to Europe, marking a significant step in expanding the country’s aviation sector.
