Malaysia’s AirAsia is set to begin flight operations to Pakistan, introducing a new direct route between Karachi and Kuala Lumpur. The airline has received approval from Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), with flights scheduled to commence on May 30, 2025.
Initially, AirAsia will operate four flights per week, offering a budget-friendly travel option for passengers between the two countries. Industry analysts believe this move will enhance connectivity, support job creation, and benefit the Pakistani community in Malaysia.
AirAsia X CEO Benyamin Ismail expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, highlighting Karachi’s economic potential and strategic importance. He noted that this new route would provide passengers with convenient connections to destinations like Australia, China, and Thailand.
To mark the launch, AirAsia is offering promotional fares, with tickets from Kuala Lumpur to Karachi starting at RM959 and from Karachi to Kuala Lumpur at Rs. 64,990. These special rates are available for booking until April 20, 2025, for travel between May 30, 2025, and March 27, 2026.
The airline expects to transport over 100,000 passengers annually on this route, further strengthening tourism and trade ties between Malaysia and Pakistan.
