Kane Williamson may have gone unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, but the Kiwi star will still be part of the cash-rich league. Though he still won’t be part of any of the IPL franchises.
The renowned New Zealand cricketer will be part of the commentary team for a brief stint of 10 days, providing analysis and commentary during the early matches of the tournament. His involvement comes at a time when the IPL is gearing up for another exciting season, starting on March 22, 2025.
Despite not being on the field, Williamson’s return to the IPL is highly anticipated. Following his commentary duties, Kane Williamson will transition to the Pakistan Super League (PSL X) 2025, where he has been signed by the Karachi Kings. This will mark a reunion with his former Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate, David Warner.
The 10th edition of the PSL is set to run concurrently with the IPL, from April 8 to May 19, 2025. This overlap is a first for both leagues, creating a unique scenario for cricket fans who will have the opportunity to enjoy two high-profile tournaments simultaneously.
Williamson’s commentary role is expected to enhance the viewing experience, as he brings a deep understanding of the game and a unique perspective on player strategies. His insights will be particularly valuable given his extensive experience in international cricket and previous IPL seasons.
