The Sindh government has canceled Eidul Fitr holidays for transport officials to prevent fare overcharging during the holiday rush.
Sindh Minister for Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon announced that staff from the Transport and Mass Transit Department will remain on duty throughout the Eid period to ensure passengers are not exploited by transporters.
The provincial government had earlier declared March 31 to April 2 as official Eid holidays. However, transport officials will continue working to monitor fare regulations and facilitate smooth travel for commuters.
Memon urged travelers to report any instances of overcharging and warned transporters against inflating fares. He assured that strict action will be taken against violators.
Overcharging by transporters during Eid and other major festivals has been a persistent issue, prompting authorities to take preventive measures this year.
