KP to Deduct Professional Tax From Doctors’ Salaries

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise and Taxation Department has instructed the Health Department to deduct professional tax from doctors’ salaries.

As per the directive, hospitals must deduct the tax at the prescribed rates and recover any outstanding dues from doctors.

This decision aligns with a 2021 ruling by the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

Additionally, the letter warns that hospital administrations may face penalties for non-compliance with the court’s order.
