The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a reduction of Rs. 1 per unit in electricity tariffs for all consumers in Pakistan.
All electricity consumers will receive a relief of Rs. 1 per unit in their electricity bills. This relief will be provided from the revenue generated through a levy on captive power plants. A levy has been imposed on the gas usage by captive power plants.
The government is also working on a relief package for electricity consumers. The package will be announced after approval from the IMF, as per the officials.
