Young Kid from Quetta Goes Viral for Amazing Wicket-Keeping Skills [Video]

Wicket-keeping is often an overlooked position and skill in cricket. Besides the likes of Mohammad Rizwan and Moin Khan, Pakistan often has to make do with the likes of Kamran Akmal (sometimes his brother Umar Akmal) and Sarfaraz Ahmed, highlighting the lack of skilled wicketkeepers in the country.

However, Pakistan legend Rashid Latif is here to prove that there is no shortage of talent when it comes to wicketkeeping. The former cricketer shared a clip of a young kid from Quetta, Balochistan, putting on a wicket-keeping masterclass for the world to see. The young kid, Salman Khan, is already going viral as people continue to praise his talent at such a young age.

People were quick to point out his natural instincts to get into a good position, staying balanced and keeping his head stable before diving for the catch. Others were reminded of a young Rashid Latif and how the legendary cricketer would often took spectacular catches behind the stumps. Many expressed hope of seeing young Salman Khan make his way into the national side years from now.

One user highlighted a stark reality of Pakistan cricket and how management often overlooks talent from places other than Punjab and Sindh, stating: “If he is not from Sindh, or Punjab or someone’s relative … he will not stand a chance. That’s how it is nowadays.”

Here’s hoping young Salman Khan from Quetta continues to hone his skill and eventually break into the Pakistan lineup years from now.
