Faisalabad police have arrested the main suspect in the recent case of a woman’s alleged gang-rape near the motorway. Authorities confirmed that three other suspects were already in custody while efforts were underway to apprehend any remaining culprits.
According to police officials, the crime took place on March 25 in Chak No 62 JB Channan when armed men intercepted a couple traveling on a motorcycle. The assailants looted them before tying up the husband and assaulting the woman in a nearby sugarcane field.
One of the suspects reportedly called an accomplice to the scene before committing the crime. A case was registered under robbery and sexual assault charges, and police launched an investigation.
The crime scene underwent geo-fencing, and forensic evidence was collected. Authorities are now waiting for the forensic report to strengthen the case.
The incident came to light three days later when the victim’s husband reported it via the police helpline. The authorities assured that those responsible would face strict legal action.
Law enforcement has urged the public to report any information related to the case, emphasizing that justice will be served.
