Pakistan’s national space agency, SUPARCO, has opened submissions for scientists, researchers, and students to propose experiments for the country’s upcoming human spaceflight mission to China’s space station.
With the first Pakistani astronaut expected to head to the Chinese Space Station (CSS) by late 2026, SUPARCO is offering an opportunity for the public to take part in shaping this historic journey.
The agency is inviting proposals for experiments designed to be conducted in the CSS’s unique environment—characterised by extreme temperatures, a vacuum, and microgravity.
SUPARCO encourages research proposals across a wide range of disciplines, including agriculture, medicine, biotechnology, material sciences, astrophysics, and fluid dynamics. Proposals should be lightweight, cost-effective, and feasible to carry out within a week.
They must also align with the CSS’s research goals and support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The CSS orbits Earth at an altitude of approximately 380 km, completing one orbit every 92 minutes at a speed of 7.7 km/sec.
Successful proposals will be executed using the CSS’s advanced research facilities. Findings could lead to patents, high-impact publications, and new commercial products. The deadline for submission is April 30, 2025.
