On Wednesday, Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi announced that the Punjab government has officially decided to upgrade Lahore and Rawalpindi railway stations in line with international standards.

After a time,the escalators won’t work,washroom items will be pilfered off etc etc etc…and the beat’ll go on and the vicious cycle repeat itself!

Improvements in the system are very nice. Our experience show that installations of new facilities is easy but to maintain it for the comfort of people with the passage of time is big challenge.
Income from freight must be enhanced. This will play pivotal role in improving the profitability of the organization.
Need to improve accidents is more.important than renovation. Authorities tend to improve beatification and installing new luxury items do just to show case their performance. Unfortunately improvement in rail traffic system is not tangible.
I don’t mind if govt issue shares and ask for investment to railway line will be good idea. Think on these lines rather asking for investment from other countries.

Ask sindh government to do this. PPP and MQM ruling more than 50 years, they never bothered to develop the biggest city of Pakistan. Then why complaining to Punjab and Lahoris?

Only improving the waiting rooms and wash rooms or installation of escalators will not improve the passenger experience. There are lot facilities that are readily existing but not accessable. Like a lavish waiting area available at Lahore station made for express trains like green line and business train, but it is not working. The departure platform of the train changes at the lat moment causing a mass for the travellers, where as the system must be at least this much capable that the place of an bogie/carts must be pre identified not only the platform. Then arrives the train on that is never according to the promised standard. Many trains now a days are equiped with the carts/bogie that is not according to the standard for example Karakorum express and Shah Hussain now a days is fitted with the old carts where as it was supposed to be fitted with the Chinese ones. And a lot more that can only be identified with personal experience and the availability of an fully equipped very easily approachable and functional complaint management system.
Why not Karachi Railway Station ؟
Weird since railways is a federal institution and as far as I know provincial government cannot do anything in the meters of railways.
The trains should be upgraded too. I travelled after 16 years and it had deteriorated than before. Cockroaches were on the sofas of the AC parlour.it took 7 hours to reach rwp from LHR and in 2008 it took 4 hrs, same train . Pathetic condition of washrooms. I complained about cockroaches and took pics too but higher authority said they have failed to control them

Here I would like to invite attention of railway authorities to a their neglected project Resalpur Railway locomotive factory. This factory was built in 1990’s and I hardly seen any production from this factory
