Apple fans have been eagerly awaiting an upgraded Siri, one driven by more advanced AI technologies. The company initially promised to deliver these enhanced features “in the coming year,” following an announcement at WWDC over a year ago.
At that time, Apple indicated that Siri would learn from users’ interactions, emails, messages, files, and photos, effectively tailoring its assistance to personal context. The tech giant also teased deeper integration with third-party apps and the ability for Siri to interact with what’s displayed on the screen, suggesting a significant leap in both utility and user experience.
Delay to iOS 19
Despite the hype, iOS 18 arrived without any of these AI-based Siri upgrades, disappointing those who believed Apple was on the cusp of a major shift in virtual assistant capabilities. Now, according to a new report, Apple’s timeline for launching its smarter Siri has been pushed back to the fall, likely alongside iOS 19. This means the release will come roughly 15 to 16 months after the initial reveal of the project—far later than many had anticipated.
Reasons for Delay
Apple has acknowledged that integrating advanced machine learning into Siri has been more challenging than expected. The company is reportedly taking extra time to refine the AI models behind Siri’s personalized recommendations, address privacy concerns, and ensure the final product is both accurate and stable.
Although the delay may be frustrating for users excited to see a more proactive, context-aware Siri, Apple’s track record suggests it wants to deliver a polished feature rather than rush it out prematurely.
