The School Education Department (SED) of Punjab has issued an urgent advisory for all public and private schools as the heatwave intensifies across the province.
The directive instructs schools to take immediate measures to protect students and staff from extreme heat. Institutions are required to ensure the availability of clean and cold drinking water in every classroom and encourage students to drink 8 to 10 glasses daily to stay hydrated.
Schools must conduct classes in well-ventilated rooms and use fans or air coolers to improve airflow. Outdoor activities during peak heat hours are to be avoided, with students advised to remain indoors throughout the hottest parts of the day.
The advisory also stresses the need for awareness sessions on heatstroke symptoms and prevention. All schools must keep first-aid kits readily available and train staff to handle heat-related emergencies.
These measures aim to ensure the safety and well-being of students during the current wave of extreme weather. The department has directed the strict implementation of the guidelines in both government and private institutions across Punjab.
