A one-and-a-half-year-old girl died after a Suthra Punjab truck hit a motorcycle on a bridge along Ferozepur Road in Lahore on Sunday.
The child’s parents also suffered serious injuries in the crash.
According to a traffic police spokesperson, angry members of the public caught the truck driver after the accident and assaulted him.
Traffic Inspector Kot Lakhpat reached the scene soon afterwards. He took the driver into custody and prevented the situation from escalating further.
The traffic police later handed over the driver, the truck and the damaged motorcycle to the relevant police station for further legal action.
Lahore Traffic Police had already written to the concerned authorities and called for proper training of Suthra Punjab drivers.
Officials said vehicles operated by Suthra Punjab and the Lahore Waste Management Company were involved in four fatal accidents during 2025-26. These incidents claimed the lives of 10 citizens.
The latest crash has renewed calls for stricter action against negligent drivers. Authorities have also been urged to improve monitoring and introduce stronger driver training measures.
