KP Announces to Hire Doctors

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has launched a fresh hiring initiative to address the province-wide shortage of doctors. In the first phase, 115 medical officers and 51 specialist consultants will be recruited on a contract basis to strengthen services at District Headquarters Hospitals (DHQs).

The recruitment aims to improve public access to healthcare, especially in underserved areas. A key feature of the plan is to prioritize local candidates for hospitals in their own communities. These doctors will not be transferred elsewhere, ensuring stability in local medical services.

The Health Advisor has approved the initiative, emphasizing that it will not only create jobs but also enhance hospital functionality across K-P.

In addition, the government is expediting the hiring of 600 specialist doctors through the Public Service Commission. Age limits have been relaxed by five years to allow more experienced professionals to apply.

The advisor has also instructed officials to fast-track promotions for doctors and resolve longstanding seniority issues. Efforts are also underway to collect province-wide data on specialists for proper placement and better service delivery in the future.
