Abeda Iqbal Azad’s 13th Anniversary to be Commemorated on 20th April

The 13th anniversary of the passing of Abeda Iqbal Azad, the renowned activist, journalist, poet, and author, will be observed on 20th April. Abeda Iqbal Azad, daughter of the famous businessman Gholam Rabbani, dedicated her life to advocating for human rights, particularly for women and marginalised communities. Throughout her life, she became a prominent figure in the fight for justice and equality.

Abeda Iqbal Azad was widely known for her activism, which was reflected in her journalistic work. Famous fictionist Nasim Anjum recalled Abeda Iqbal Azad as an articulate and passionate person. “Abeda penned heartfelt verses—lyrical in form yet powerful in substance—shining a light on the plight of the marginalised, the oppressed, and the neglected segments of society,” she noted.
