Punjab to Acquire Modern Quadcopters to Increase Surveillance

The Punjab Police have announced plans to acquire 34 advanced quadcopters to enhance surveillance capabilities across the province, particularly for monitoring terrorist activities, criminal operations, and public or political gatherings, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

A spokesperson for the Punjab Police stated that these quadcopters will be equipped with high-resolution cameras, long-range capabilities, and the ability to carry grenades for tactical operations.

These drones are expected to play a critical role in counter-dacoit missions in the Kacha area and will also be utilized by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) for their field operations.

Each drone is estimated to cost Rs 2,194,000, bringing the total procurement cost to approximately Rs 74.5 million.

Companies interested in participating in the bidding process can register until April 28, 2025, with tenders set to be opened on the same day. The procurement process will begin immediately after.

Officials confirmed that the entire purchase will be completed before the end of the current fiscal year.
