Jason Gillespie Still Hasn’t Been Paid by PCB for 9 Months

In another troubling chapter for Pakistan cricket, former head coach Jason Gillespie has come forward with serious allegations against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), claiming he still hasn’t received his full salary for his services.

Gillespie, who was appointed as Pakistan’s red-ball head coach in April 2024 but left his post four months ago, spoke candidly on the issue with Saj Sadiq. He expressed frustration over unpaid dues and disappointment with how his tenure ended.

“I’m still waiting on some remuneration for the work I did. Admittedly, that’s been a little disappointing,” Gillespie said during the interview.

Brought in to revamp Pakistan’s Test structure, Gillespie’s experience soured when the PCB, under Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, dismissed one of his assistant coaches without consulting him. This decision, made without warning, ultimately played a part in Gillespie’s resignation.

Coaching exits in Pakistan cricket are rarely smooth, but Jason Gillespie’s situation has taken a turn for the worse. He has openly criticized Aaqib Javed in the past for undermining his tenure as Pakistan’s coach, and his current statement indicates he still holds resentment over the treatment he received from the PCB.

In the board’s defense, the country did use significant funds to revamp stadiums for the Champions Trophy, which was immediately followed by the PSL. However, the delay in remuneration is not a good look for the PCB. As of now, the PCB has not publicly responded to Gillespie’s claims.

Pakistan is on the lookout for another coach, and whether Jason Gillespie’s latest claims will affect the process remains to be seen.
