The Balochistan government is set to expand its public transport system by launching new bus services across various towns and cities in the province, including the capital city, Quetta, according to Provincial Transport Secretary Hayat Khan Kakar.
Speaking on Sunday, Kakar revealed that 21 new buses will be added to the fleet, including four pink buses specifically reserved for female passengers.
“These new buses will operate in Quetta and Turbat,” he said, noting that they are expected to become operational by June. He added that the procurement process has been completed and tenders have already been issued, with deliveries scheduled to begin next month.
4 green buses will be launched in Turbat, the divisional headquarters of Makran.
4 pink buses for women will begin service in Quetta.
12 green buses will be added to the existing Quetta fleet, extending service to new routes within the city.
Currently, eight buses operate between Sariab and the IT University via central Quetta. The expansion aims to broaden coverage and provide improved connectivity in the Kolchak and Dasht areas as well.
The initiative reflects the provincial government’s commitment to enhancing accessible, safe, and inclusive public transportation across Balochistan.
