Compensation Proposed for Car Owners Affected by Islamabad Hailstorm

Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior, Senator Faisal Saleem, has urged the federal government to provide financial assistance to vehicle owners whose cars were damaged during the recent hailstorm in Islamabad.

In a letter addressed to the Ministry of Interior and the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Senator Saleem noted that the sudden hailstorm had shattered the windshields of hundreds of vehicles, leaving citizens with heavy financial losses.

“The unexpected hailstorm caused major financial hardship. The government should offer partial compensation to ease the burden,” the senator wrote, adding that such a move would reflect the government’s solidarity with affected residents.

He also recommended the introduction of a compensation programme, especially for economically distressed citizens, along with swift action from insurance companies to ensure timely and fair reimbursements.

The proposal, if adopted, would help rebuild public trust and show a responsive government attitude in the face of natural disasters, the letter added.
