Sale of Lost Luggage at Islamabad Airport Goes Viral on Social Media

A viral post circulating on social media, claiming that lost luggage is being sold at Islamabad International Airport, has been declared false by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA).

The clarification comes after a Facebook page named Lost Luggage PK shared a misleading video with the caption: “Islamabad International Airport is emptying its warehouses and delivering lost luggage to those who answer 3 simple questions. Inside the suitcases, you can find items from branded items to various electronic devices. Delivery is available countrywide.”

PAA Labels the Claim as Fake

Responding to the online post, the Pakistan Airports Authority issued a statement terming the claim “completely false and misleading.” The authority clarified that no such activity has been authorised at Islamabad Airport or any other airport in the country.

“The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has not authorized any such activity. Please avoid sharing or trusting such fake news,” the statement said.

Video Not From Islamabad Airport

The video used in the Facebook post is not from Islamabad International Airport. Despite this, the visuals and captions have led many social media users to believe otherwise, prompting the authority to step in with an official denial.

Public Urged to Rely on Official Sources

The PAA urged citizens and media platforms to verify such claims through official channels before sharing them further. It also encouraged people to follow the PAA’s verified social media accounts for authentic updates regarding airport operations.

“For accurate and verified updates, follow our official channels,” the authority added.
