Bad News for Owners of Non-Custom Paid Vehicles

The Punjab Home Department has instructed the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations to compile and submit a complete report on non-custom paid (NCP) vehicles that have been apprehended, impounded, returned, auctioned, or disposed of across the province.

According to reports, this move follows directives issued by the Central Apex Committee under the Revised National Action Plan (NAP 2021).

The committee, which met in November last year under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, had tasked provincial authorities to intensify action against illegal spectrum activities, including the use of non-custom paid vehicles.

In line with the decision, District Coordination Committees (DCCs) were directed to take action against such vehicles. The Home Department, acting on this directive, sought detailed data from DIG Operations regarding all NCP vehicles handled during recent operations across Punjab.

Following this, the Additional Inspector General (AIG) Operations, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, issued instructions to Regional Police Officers (RPOs), City Police Officers (CPOs), and District Police Officers (DPOs) to collect and share the relevant data.

However, reports revealed that by the first week of April, the police had not yet submitted the required information to the Home Department. A senior police official in Rawalpindi, when asked about the matter, claimed he was unaware of any such directive regarding the seizure of NCP vehicles..
