PFA Seizes 2000 Liters of Fake Cold Drinks Posing as Popular Brands

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) foiled a bid to produce fake soft drinks under the guise of popular brands.

Acting on the special directions of Director General Muhammad Asim Javed, the food safety team raided an illegal manufacturing unit located in Adda Baseera, Basti Qadirpur Laar, and seized 2000 liters of counterfeit cold drinks, 300 liters of substandard syrup, and destroyed them on-site.

A large quantity of empty bottles and packaging materials with fake branding, three beverage-filling machines, 5 gas cylinders, and other manufacturing equipment was also seized.

The unit was reportedly mixing various chemicals and flavors to produce fake beverages and packaging them under the labels of well-known brands, intending to distribute them in the local market. An FIR has been registered at the Basti Malook Police Station against the owners.

DG PFA Muhammad Asim Javed stated that exposing such fraudulent practices and ensuring the safety of public health was a top priority.
