Haval Pakistan is gearing up to introduce the Tank 500 PHEV, a plug-in hybrid SUV from Great Wall Motors (GWM), following the recent local debut of the Tank 500 HEV. The new launch aligns with the company’s growing electrified portfolio, which also includes the upcoming Power Cannon Alpha PHEV, a pickup truck expected to rival the BYD Shark 6.
With multiple EVs and hybrids headed to Pakistan —including the MG ES5, MI LS6, Omoda C7, and Jaecoo J5 2025 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for electric mobility in the country.
The Tank 500 PHEV combines a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 300 kW and 750 Nm. Paired with a 9-speed hybrid automatic transmission and 4WD, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9 seconds.
The battery is a 1 kWh ternary lithium-ion (NCM) unit, offering up to 110 km electric-only range (WLTC). It supports 50 kW DC fast charging and 6 kW AC charging, making it suitable for both city and long-distance use. Fuel economy is rated at 6.6L/100km, and it runs on 91 RON petrol with a 70-liter fuel tank.
With a kerb weight of 2,830 kg, the SUV supports a 565 kg payload and boasts a 3,000 kg towing capacity. Its gross vehicle mass sits at 3,395 kg, showcasing the vehicle’s serious hauling capability.
Visually, the Tank 500 PHEV makes a strong impression. It features a chromed front grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, automatic side steps, and full LED lighting. A panoramic sunroof adds to its upscale appeal.
Inside, the SUV offers seating for seven passengers, wrapped in Nappa leather. The front seats are massaging, heated, and ventilated, while the second row features a wide bench, fold-down armrest, USB ports, and its climate controls.
The cabin includes a 6-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, and a 12-speaker Infinity sound system. Extras like 64-color ambient lighting, quilted leather panels, wood-look trim, and an analogue clock elevate the luxury feel. The SUV also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Although Haval Pakistan has not confirmed a launch date, expectations are high that the Tank 500 PHEV will join showrooms soon. With rising interest in hybrid SUVs and the growing availability of EV infrastructure, this launch could offer a compelling new option for premium SUV buyers in Pakistan.
