Tensions between Pakistan and India escalated further after the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) detected four Indian Rafale fighter jets flying near the Line of Control (LoC) on the night between April 29 and 30.
Security sources revealed that the Indian aircraft were patrolling in the airspace over Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) when PAF jets swiftly responded, prompting the Indian fighters to retreat.
The incident follows the deadly April 22 attack in Pahalgam, IIOJK, which left 26 people dead, mostly tourists. It was one of the deadliest attacks in the region since 2000. In response, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, while Pakistan hinted at suspending the Simla Agreement and closing its airspace to Indian flights.
India has alleged cross-border links to the attack, though no evidence has been shared publicly. Pakistan has strongly denied any involvement and has called for an independent investigation.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Atta Tarar warned that India may be planning a military strike within 24 to 36 hours, calling India’s approach reckless. He stressed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and its own long-standing sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
