The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has given the green light for the rehabilitation and improvement of the Lahore Raiwind Road — specifically the stretch from Lake City to Raiwind — at a revised estimated cost of Rs. 1.992 billion.
The project is aimed at easing traffic congestion, improving road safety, and supporting better connectivity in this rapidly growing part of Lahore. The upgraded road is expected to facilitate thousands of daily commuters, especially those residing in nearby housing societies and rural areas.
The approval came during the 77th PDWP meeting held on Tuesday, chaired by Planning and Development (P&D) Board Chairman Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan. Senior officials, including Secretary Dr Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, and other board members, were in attendance.
The rehabilitation of Raiwind Road is one of three schemes approved at the meeting, with the total value of the projects reaching Rs. 5.094 billion.
The other two include the Progressive Control of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in Punjab costing Rs. 863.5 million and the Construction of District Jail, Nankana Sahib with a revised budget of Rs. 2.238 billion.
