Islamabad Airport Closed, Airspace Cordoned Off by Fighter Jets — Here’s the Truth!

A message circulating on WhatsApp has sparked confusion by claiming that Islamabad International Airport has been closed for all arrivals and departures due to “operational reasons,” with a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) allegedly being issued.

The message reads: “Dear all concerned, Islamabad Airport is closed till further notice due to operational reasons. No arrival/departure will be allowed. NOTAM issue in progress.”

However, when contacted by ProPakistani, a spokesperson for the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) confirmed that this information is false. The official stated that Islamabad Airport is operating normally, and no such closure has been enforced.

The rumours emerged in the wake of heightened regional tensions following a deadly attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian-Occupied Kashmir, after which Pakistan officially closed its airspace for Indian flights.

Claims were also made about a temporary “airspace cordon off by military aircraft after 9 am,” but officials have not confirmed any such development.

Authorities urge the public to avoid spreading unverified information and to rely only on official sources for updates regarding flight operations and airspace status.
