NADRA Develops App to Register Births, Deaths, and Marriages from Home

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new mobile app that allows citizens to update life events—such as births, deaths, and marital status—without visiting government offices.

The announcement was made during the second meeting of the National Registration and Biometric Policy Framework Implementation Committee, which brought together representatives from federal ministries, regulatory bodies, and provincial departments.

NADRA Chairman Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Munir Afsar said the app is part of a broader effort to modernize public services and improve the accuracy of the national database. “This mobile application enables citizens to register life events online from their homes. Initially, the rollout will begin in Punjab,” he said.

To support the new system, biometric verification facilities are being expanded to union councils throughout the province. A live demonstration of the app was presented to officials from the Local Government Department during the session.

In the capital, NADRA is also setting up one-window counters at union councils to simplify access to registration services.

The meeting also featured a briefing by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) chairman on the development of a national biometric policy, which aims to support secure and integrated digital identification across the country.
