Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the national flag carrier, has announced an updated allowance structure for its regular pilots, set to take effect from April 8, 2025. The move is part of the airline’s broader strategy to enhance operational efficiency and financial planning.
According to the official notification, a budgetary increase of Rs300 million per month has been sanctioned to support the revised allowance framework.
One of the most notable changes involves raising the guaranteed flying hours from 50 to 73 hours monthly. However, pilots must now log a minimum of 60 actual flying hours to qualify for the guaranteed allowance.
To ensure effective implementation and oversight, PIA has formed a dedicated monitoring team comprising the Chief Human Resource Officer, Chief Information Officer, and Chief of Flight Operations. This team will evaluate monthly flight schedules and rosters to ensure compliance and performance.
Additionally, a new disciplinary clause has been introduced: pilots who decline scheduled flights without a valid reason may face penalties under the revised policy.
Separately, PIA launched a recruitment campaign on April 7 to address staffing shortages in its flight crew. The airline is inviting applications for 20 pilot positions and 40 cabin crew roles.
These initiatives are aligned with PIA’s ongoing efforts to streamline operations and improve service quality amid broader reforms within Pakistan’s aviation sector.
