British Council Issues Update on Exams Amid Pakistan-India Tensions

Despite the closure of educational institutions across Punjab due to escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, the British Council Pakistan has announced that all scheduled exams for today will go ahead as planned.

In an official statement, the Council said, “All exams scheduled for today will proceed as planned. We will keep you updated if there are any changes. If you have any questions please contact your school or, in the case of private candidates, please contact our Customer Services centre.”

The announcement comes shortly after Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz ordered the closure of all schools, colleges, and universities across the province on Wednesday, citing public safety concerns amid the recent cross-border military strikes.

In her brief statement, CM Maryam Nawaz said the decision was taken as a precautionary step to safeguard students, teachers, and academic staff in light of the current security situation.

“The safety of our people is our top priority,” she stressed, adding that any further decisions would depend on updates from security and law enforcement agencies.

The move follows a series of military exchanges between Pakistan and India, which began with Indian missile strikes on several locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. In response, Pakistan shot down multiple Indian aircraft and targeted Indian military positions.
