Neelum-Jhelum Hydro Power Project Damaged in Indian Attack

Pakistan’s military has confirmed that the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project was damaged during recent Indian attacks. In a media briefing, ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that India targeted the dam as part of a series of unprovoked strikes on the night of May 6-7.

In the midst of these attacks, the ISPR chief questioned whether India’s actions were aimed at harming Pakistan’s water resources, raising concerns about the legality of targeting such infrastructure under international and war laws.

The ISPR chief explained that the attack on the Neelum-Jhelum dam was part of a broader assault on six locations. Among the targeted sites were places of worship in Ahmedpur East and Muridke, where several people, including women and children, were killed or wounded.
