In response to escalating tensions with India, Pakistani authorities have imposed a temporary ban on fishing activities in the country’s territorial waters. All fishing boats and trawlers currently at sea have been ordered to return to shore as a precautionary measure.
The ban coincides with a high alert issued at Pakistan’s three major ports—Karachi, Port Qasim, and Gwadar—where security has been significantly tightened. The fishing ban will remain in effect until the high alert is lifted, and fishermen have been urged to avoid venturing into the sea during this period.
This move follows other security measures taken across the country, including the suspension of flight operations at several major airports. Airports in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, and Sialkot have been closed indefinitely, with incoming flights to Lahore being diverted to Karachi. The Pakistan Airports Authority confirmed these suspensions through official notices, advising passengers to stay in contact with their airlines for updates.
The heightened security measures, including the fishing ban and airport closures, come in the wake of recent Indian attacks on Pakistan, reflecting the government’s efforts to safeguard national security and civilian safety amid ongoing regional tensions.
