Will PSL 2025 be Postponed or Moved to Dubai? Franchise Owners Make Their Decision

The rising tensions between Pakistan and India have cast a long shadow over the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, leaving fans and players alike uncertain about the tournament’s future.

With the conflict escalating rapidly, the PCB and franchise owners are facing some tough calls on whether to shift venues or postpone the remainder of the season altogether.

Originally, the remainder of PSL 2025 was set to continue across several cities in Pakistan, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan. But with security concerns mounting, Karachi has emerged as the most likely host for the remaining matches. At the same time, Dubai and Doha are also being seriously considered as neutral venues, offering a safer alternative if the situation worsens.

However, there’s a growing sense of hesitation among the franchise owners. Some have hinted that postponing the tournament indefinitely might be a better option than rushing to change venues amid such uncertainty. The safety of players—especially the foreign stars who have expressed concerns—is a top priority, and the logistical challenges of a sudden venue switch are significant.

Parallel to the PSL’s predicament, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is also expected to announce schedule changes. Recently, the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was called off citing security concerns and the IPL authorities have decided to make special arrangements to evacuate the players and staff from the venue.
