As border tensions between India and Pakistan escalate, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is actively exploring contingency plans to shift the remainder of the Pakistan Super League 2025 (PSL 10) to the UAE or Qatar if the situation does not improve.
According to reports in local media, PSL 10 is being moved to Karachi with only a handful of games left due to India’s violation of international law.
A final decision is expected later this evening. ARY News was the first to report that high-level consultations are underway between PCB officials, government security advisors, and franchise stakeholders. While no formal announcement has been made yet, preparations are already in motion should the situation worsen.
The league has already weathered logistical reshuffling this season, with matches being moved from Rawalpindi and Lahore to Karachi earlier today due to growing security concerns. But with airspace restrictions tightening and foreign embassies urging caution, the possibility of staging the tournament abroad has quickly shifted from a backup plan to a necessary pivot.
Doha and Dubai are being considered as likely venues. Dubai hosted 60 PSL fixtures during the league’s early days. From 2016 to 2019, Dubai was a regular venue for PSL cricket.
For now, the cricket continues—but under a shadow. PSL 10 has been a thrilling, tightly contested edition, with several teams still in the playoff hunt. Yet, like much else in the region right now, the fate of this tournament hangs in the balance—not because of cricketing issues, but because of a political fault line that shows no signs of cooling.
The PCB is expected to confirm its decision before midnight.
